STRUCTURE:
The A Level Art specification (or syllabus) is made up of two sections:
a) Advanced Subsisiary (AS) qualification, which replaces the old Advanced Supplementary
b) A Level (A2) qualification

Candidates will take the AS before they take the A2 to achieve the full A Level. The AS represents 50% of the qualification, with the A2 providing the remaining 50%.

UNITS:
The AS and the A2 will be made up of 3 units each, with candidates taking 6 units to achieve the full A level. Candidates are expected to produce evidence relating to the following:
1. Good observational skills in both drawing & painting, using a range of materials and processes.
2. A written personal study dealing with the exploration of historical and contemporary references involving first-hand investigation through visits to Art Galleries and Museums (see useful links).
3. Controlled practical tests of 5 and 15 hours duration, submitting unaided work produced under supervision within a set time period.
