Information for parents who have received notification that their son has achieved the Grammar School standard and have been offered a place at another school.
It is likely that this has occurred because you placed another school as a higher preference than Wirral Grammar School. It could also be that on the basis of allocations, our school is full and in applying the admission criteria it has not been possible to offer you a place.
If either of these situations apply, and you would like your son to start at Wirral Grammar School in September, you should notify Wirral Local Authority as soon as possible. You are also advised to notify the school so that we are made aware of your situation. In the period imediately after the 1st March notification date, some parents who have been offered places decline them; if this is the case, places will be offered on the basis of the admissions criteria and you should be contacted by the Local Authority. We do advise you to inform Wirral Local Authority directly. Contact information can be obtained by clicking here. You should also inform Mrs Debbie Roberts at Wirral Grammar School (0151 6440908 ext 223).
Parents are entitled to make an Appeal if they wish to pursue the possibility of a place despite being advised that the school has reached its admission number. Parents should be aware that there is no guarantee that a place will be offered at the appeal stage. The appeals process is managed by an independent body. Once a school is full it is difficult to admit additional pupils as it places added pressure on physical resources, especially in practical subject areas.
