Information for parents who have have been informed that their son has not reached the standard for the Grammar School.
You will be aware that the admission threshold on the Verbal Reasoning Tests is a score of 236 when both marks are combined. It is not possible to take the test again until the Spring Term 2009; this is standard admissions policy. If you are intent on your son taking the test you should contact Wirral Grammar School and inform our Admissions Manager, Mrs Debbie Roberts (0151 6440908 ext 223). We do advise against a move of school part way through an academic year as a change of school can be detrimental to learning continuity; equally we are aware that there may be specific circumstances that make a change of school preferable. Admission into all years, with the exception of the start of Year 7, is managed by Wirral Grammar School and is subject to there being places available.
Parents have a right of appeal despite their son not reaching the required level. Appeals requests should be directed to Wirral Grammar School and this should also be noted on the form that you return to Wirral Local Authority.
Information for parents whose son has not taken the 11+ test previously and who now wish to investigate the possibility of a place at Wirral Grammar School for September.
It is possible for parents to arrange for their son to be tested if he has not taken the 11+ in the Autumn Term. Securing a place would depend on both meeting the standard and there being places available. Parents in this position should contact Wirral Grammar School and speak to our Admissions Manager, Mrs Debbie Roberts (0151 6440908 ext 223).
