  Beyond the
  Sixth Form
The two years in the Sixth Form will fly by with incredible speed. Effectively, there are only five terms of teaching. Further, application to university or college has to be complete by the end of the fourth term. It therefore makes sense to start planning your future beyond the Sixth Form almost imediately you enter it.

The school prides itself on the careers service it provides, which involves both its own staff and the local professional Careers Service. Even in the darkest days of mass unemployment, virtually no-one left this school without a place in Higher Education, Further Education or direct employment.

The School has a modern, well-equipped and comfortably furnished Careers Room which is open daily, under the supervision of the Head of Careers. Information concerning careers is given in assemblies and is circulated around tutor groups. Interviews are held in year 11 and again in lower sixth, regarding career choice. Speakers are brought in regularly to talk about the world of Industry and Commerce, and sixth formers have opportunities to gain work experience, in some cases in other countries, as well as locally.

The Higher Education Information Day is an annual event at the end of which, each student receives a supplement to his handbook devoted exclusively to Higher Education.

Every applicant to HE is personally advised on the completion of his application form. Finally the Head of Sixth Form is available in school on A level results day, and then in school or at home, for the remainder of the school holidays, until all the candidates have found a destination.  The majority of our Sixth Formers enter Higher Education, and an annual "crop" go on to Oxford and Cambridge.
