Community Development
School Website Project

Another ICT project that has seen the development of a school community website link fully created and maintained by one of our year 9 students (James Cowgill) and a group of 8 year 6 pupils from Brackenwood Junior School, one of our partner schools.
The community link from the schools own website allows the school to tell visitors to the site about school activities and events that will have an impact not only within the school community, but within the community beyond the school gates.
James has been busy helping the pupils to understand how a website is designed, and has provided the children with tasks relating to researching material to place on to the site, and demonstrating how to publish information "live" using unique user identification and passwords.

Former Headteacher Gordon Morris has this to say about the partnership:
"As a junior school sited close to a number of the secondary schools where our pupils transfer to after year 6, we are always interested in every opportunity for pupils to get a chance to familiarise themselves with what the next stage of their education may be like.
When Tony Boustead, Community Manager at Wirral Grammar School for Boys, contacted the school to discuss this opportunity, we felt that it would be a superb way of forging a link that would benefit both schools. The team of year 6 pupils are now beginning to establish roles, and will hopefully be able to sow the seeds for other groups in the future to take over."
