Business Studies (KS5)-Examination Board-AQA
The Department has decided to build on the success of recent years and continue its association with the Assessment and Qualifications Alliance. As a result, we are confident that we can build upon the considerable success in public examinations of recent years.
The course covers 6 key Business Areas: Marketing, Accounting & Finance, People, Operations Management, External Influences and Objectives and Strategy.
The courses offered will provide a smooth transition from GCSE Business Studies, although this is not a pre-requisite for studying AS/A level Business Studies. No prior knowledge is assumed, although a pass at GCSE Mathematics at grade C or above is required.
How is the course assessed?
The A Level qualification is in 2 parts:
Advanced Subsidiary (AS)-50% of the total award
A2 - 50% of the total award.
AS is taken during the lower sixth year, and A2 examinations during upper sixth. The assessment will be based largely on case studies, but unit 5(External Influences) is based on a written report and an essay.
