Chemistry (KS4) - GCSE Chemistry

The course builds upon the chemistry studied in years 7,8 and 9. It covers all the work required by the National Curriculum, and provides a body of knowledge appropriate for all students whether, or not, they choose to study chemistry at A  level.

The topics covered are:
Year 10:
* Module 5-Metals
* Module 6-Earth Materials
* Module 21-Aqueous and Organic Chemistry

Year11:
* Module 7-Patterns of Chemical Change
* Electrolysis - Structures and Bonding
* Module 22-Chemistry in Action

We follow the AQA GCSE Science:Chemistry (modular) specification. The assessment is divided in to 3 components:

Written Paper (1.5 hrs)-50%
Module Tests (3 x 0.5 hrs)-30%
Coursework - 20% (Practically based and investigative work is internally assessed during lesson time.)
