Community Development:
Bebington Community Website
During Enterprise week 2006, a group of 30 mixed ability and mixed age boys enjoyed a full days training that focused on how to create a community website. The activity was led by two members of staff (Dr L Warren and Ms J Kennah) and supported by Mr Ian Linnegan, a director of the LocalBiz company who provided the training resources for the day, including the template for the new website.

By the end of the day the boys had developed the skills to create pages, add business details, upload images and pictures and generally had gained improved knowledge and a greater awareness of simple, but effective website design.

Following the activity, the boys were asked to apply for roles within a website design team that would be responsible for maintaining the site. We currently have a team of 12 boys who meet once per week  to contact local businesses, add new information to the site and discuss the best way to move forward with the project.

The venture has been well received and has been featured as 'Case Study of the week' on the National Schools Network Website (click here to view a pdf version of the case study).
