Economics (KS5):

The A Level qualification is in 2 parts:
AS (Advanced Sunsidiary) -50% of total marks
A2 - 50% of total marks

AS Modules:
Module 1: Markets & Market Failure
How are products, income and services shared out amongst the population? How efficient is the system? What are the alternatives?
Module 2: The National Economy
How does the economy work? How and why does the government try to influence the economy?
Module 3: Markets at Work
A detailed investigation of either the housing market, the environment or the economics of sport & leisure

A2 Modules:
Module 4: Working as an Economist
This includes a case study of the European Union. Students work as an Economist to investigate arguments surrounding European integration.
Module 5: Business Economics/The Distribution of Income
Models of Corporate Behaviour and the markets in which they operate.
Module 6: Government Policy
The National & International Economy, Economic Growth, Inflation & Unemployment
