British Government & Politics (KS5):

This subject and course of study is designed to foster an interest in and an understanding of contemporary Politics in Great Britain, and is therefore of real relevance. Students are encouraged both to develop their own views and to express them. The course is chiefly concerned with Bristish Politics since 1945, and concentrates on institutions and general development over this period. The material is divided into the following units:

AS (Studied in the lower sixth):
Unit 1: People & Politics
Unit 2: Governing the UK
Unit 3: The Changing UK system
These 3 units will be examined at the end of the L6 year.

A2 (Studied in the upper sixth):
Unit 4: Introduction to Political Ideologies
Unit 5: Alternative Ideologies:
Unit 6: Ideological development in the UK
These 3 units will be examined at the end of the U6 year.

Set work takes a variety of forms including essays, debates, use of DVD/Video/TV and access to the Internet.
