We are pleased to have secured the Intermediate Stage Award for ‘Introducing Internationalism’ at Wirral Grammar School. Overseas links have been a long established feature at our school with annual visits to other countries taking place each year.
The intermediate award is for schools that have substantial curriculum-based international activities. Schools are also expected to have made progress towards planning collaborative work with partner school/s from another country/ies
The criteria for achieving the Intermediate Stage Award include:
üTeachers from a range of subjects who have begun to integrate global issues and international awareness into their lessons
üEmail exchange either taking place or planned between pupils in school and pupils overseas
üA number of teachers from a range of subjects have begun to integrate global issues and international awareness into their lessons.
üWhole school activities such as a European or world project.

On the charity front, our school raised over £8,000 for the Mango Tree Foundation, a charity that provides for orphans in Southern Tanzania.
The next stage will be to progress to the full award stage. This category is designed for schools that demonstrate an international ethos throughout the school, and which is included in the school development plan. This will involve substantial curriculum-based international activity and schools must demonstrate collaborative work. It is likely that the school has a history of international activity over the past two years.

· This might be in addition to whole school activities such as a European or world project
