Year 1 (Lower Sixth):
AS Module 1: Law-Making
An explanation of law-making through the creation of legislation and its interpretation, and the doctrine of precedent.
AS Module 2: Dispute Solving
The people and institutions concerned with civil and criminal cases. The courts and alternatives to courts, the legal profession, judges, lay people and finance.
AS Module 3: The Concept of Liability
An introduction to Criminal Law with particular reference to non-fatal offences against the person, and to Civil Law through liability in tort for physical injury and damage.
Year 2 (Upper Sixth):
A2 Module 4: Criminal Law (Offences against the person)
Criminal Law-fatal and non-fatal offences against the person
A2 Module 5: Criminal Law (Offences against property)
Criminal Law-theft, theft-related offences and criminal damage
A2 Module 6: Concepts of Law
A consideration of content learned from previous modules using concepts such as morality, justice, fault and balancing conflicting interests.
