Challenge 2007
The Make Your Mark Challenge is the UK's largest live and simultaneous national one-day enterprise competition and is the flagship event for Enterprise Week
(Mon 12th November-Friday 16th November).
Thousands of teams take part in schools, colleges and universities all on the same day across the UK, and this year WGSB entered 10 teams of Year 10 Business Students to take part in the event.
On Monday 12th November at 9am each team of 6 students logged on to the Make Your Mark Challenge website to download the challenge brief. They were challenged to design a product, service, event or attraction formulating ideas using a creative approach. They needed to identify who their competitors were likely to be, identify a target market and demonstrate how they will differentiate themselves and provide a unique or innovative offering.The students then had to produce a 'money matters' document illustrating costs and profit. Finally they had to 'pitch' their ideas to a panel of judges who provided marks out of 50 based on innovation, creativity and of course enterprise.
The winning team's entry was then put forward for consideration for a place at the Regional Finals to be held next week at Liverpool FC. If successful here, the team will then take part in the National Final to be held in London in December where they have the chance to win £3000 for the school and gift vouchers for themselves.
