MFL (KS4):

The aims of the GCSE language courses are to develop in the pupil an understanding of the spoken and written forms of the language, and the ability to communicate effectively through both the written and spoken word in a variety of contexts. The students are also required to develop a knowledge and understanding of the grammar of the language, and learn how to apply it.

The language specifications (see useful links) comprise four themes: My World, Holiday Time and Travel, Work and Lifestyle and the Young Person in Society. Teaching relies heavily on the spoken word, and on the use of audio and video/DVD as well as other media.

The course also makes its contribution to Key Skills, moral, ethical, social, cultural, environmental, health & safety and European issues, as well as ICT and citizenship.

Our MFL courses are relevant to many careers at all levels, in numerous industries and areas of commerce where international trade is an important feature.
