PSE (KS3):

In addition to the general aims of PSE in school, the year 7 curriculum deals specifically with major issues arising from the transfer to secondary school such as personal organisation and concerns over matters such as bullying. We also aim to develop study skills and make boys more aware of personal and social development by including the themes of sex education and health and crime in the community. The programme is tutor-based, although 'experts' such as the school nurse and librarian are involved.

Citizenship:

Education for Citizenship is designed to deliver 3 things: to make young people better informed of their rights and their responsibilities, to develop skills of enquiry and communication and to encourage participation and responsible action. Relevant themes will be taught across a wide range of National Curriculum subjects, and also experienced through wider pupil involvement in the life of the school community. There will also be discrete elements of Citizenship taught via the programme in Personal, Social and Health Education. In year 7 this will focus on 'Crime in the Community'.
