Religious Studies (KS4): GCSE
The GCSE course centres around the study of two major world religions (Christianity and Islam) in which the following aspects will be covered: Origins; Teachings; Beliefs; History; Themes and Contemporary Moral Issues.
Religious Studies is a subject that commits itself to 'live enquiry' looking at the people of different races, beliefs and ways of life, and developing a better understanding of them. For the students, a study of different cultures inevitably leads to a more perceptive approach to other school subjects, and to a more informed response to current affairs.
In most careers, you will meet people of other religions, and your success may well depend on your ability to get on with them. Many employers today are well aware of the need to handle people and their beliefs sensitively; therefore, they look favourably on prospective employees who hold a qualification in World Religions.
