Peer Support Group Representative
- Job Description

Note: There is more on the Peer Support Group on the VLE.
Being a PSG Rep is something that is taken seriously within the school community. It is not a job that you sign yourself up for just so that it can be included on your CV or UCAS form. It is a serious matter that you must commit yourself fully to. However, if your application to the PSG is successful, there are benefits such as feeling as though you are making a difference to the school life for younger students, and it will help with your university entrance.

Your job would include:

  • Being assigned to a form and talking to them on a regular basis.
  • Dealing with bullying (at any level) that may go on within the form.
  • Becoming actively involved with the lower school in order to develop their skills, either academically or socially.
  • Referring any bully to the appropriate HOY or Learning Mentor.
  • Attending assemblies within the year group so that pupils could recognise you and for you to show that you care (you may also have to talk to the group)
  • Attending regular meetings with the Learning Mentor, to check how you're getting on, and your forms 'status'.
  • Patrol corridors and danger zones at breaks/or lunchtimes.
  • Attending drop in sessions at lunchtimes, and possibly break times.

Peer Support Group Representative

To be able to do this job effectively, you must have certain qualities. You must be:

  • Approachable (students must feel comfortable talking to you)
  • A Good Listener (you must actively listen to what's being said)
  • An Effective Communicator (a requirement for all job applications)
  • Able to show Emotion (positive facial expressions are crucial)
  • You must be able to work under ethical guidelines
  • You must also show that you are not experiencing any current substantial difficulties either personally or in terms of your academic work

If you are interested, please fill in the application form, and if you are successful, then you will hear from us shortly.

Thank You,
Mrs S Walker (Learning Mentor)
