The £1 Challenge

Pupils in Years 7 and 8 were each given £1 which they had to use to obtain the greatest return possible using only this sum of money.

The rules for the activity were that it must:

  • Be lawful
  • Not involve any form of gambling
  • Not cause offence or harm to any other person(s)
  • Have approval from each form tutor
Students could work individually or alternatively they were allowed to collaborate within their own form, therefore increasing the amount of capital avalalable.

Boys came up with a range of enterprising ideas including producing cakes/snacks to sell at break time, organising raffles and washing cars.

Prizes were awarded to the winning individuals/teams, and any profits were donated to the schools nominated charity.
