Target Two Point Zero invites teams of 16-18 year old students to take on the role of the Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee. Each team assesses the state of the economy and the outlook for inflation and then set the interest rate to meet the Government's inflation target. It will present its analysis and its decision to a panel of judges.

As of 28th November 2007 our team (Robert Anson, Sam Lewtas, Pater Van Berkum and Alex Shipman) did just that.

Following the presentation, and a nerve-wracking one hour later, the judges returned with their verdict. Unfortunately, Wirral faced some stiff competition and were pipped to the post for second place. Disappointment ran high, but the three Economists and one Businessman held their heads high and congratulated the winner.

All in all the challenge was an experience never to be forgotten and an experience which four future economists will undoubtedly embark upon next year.

Many thanks to Mr Harrison for his support.
