Young Co-operatives

Young Co-operatives

Young Co-operatives is a practical introduction to fair trade and co-operative working for people, usually aged 13-17.

Members of young co-operatives gain practical business experience, learn to work as part of a democratic team and, by selling only fairly traded products, make a direct difference to some of the world's poorest producers and their families.

Our young co-operatives have supported events such as the Specialist Schools Showcase Event held at Pacific Road in Birkenhead, providing refreshments for 150 customers (all the refreshments were of course based on fair trade products). They have also provided refreshments at an International Dimensions conference, where delegates included representatives from a range of educational establishments based on the Wirral, and during Enterprise Week they were responsible for running a stall selling fair trade products in order to create a greater awareness of the fair trade campaign.

To find out more about the young co-operatives, visit the website found in the useful links section of this page.
