Primary Enterprise Challenge Final

Posted on: 27.01.2010

On Wednesday 27th January, 7 teams of Year 5 & 6 primary pupils competed in the final of this year's Primary Enterprise Challenge. The teams had been set the task of designing and creating a life-size model using only recyclable materials.

The initial event, held during Enterprise Week 2009, had seen almost 400 pupils taking part. A winning team from each school was selected and represented their school at the final where they had to deliver a 5 minute presentation to a panel of judges.

The judges were looking not only for pupils displaying a range of Enterprise skills, but were also deciding on presentation skills, recycling knowledge and best overall design. The winners were as follows:

Best Overall Design: Thornton Hough Primary School

Recycling Champions: Higher Bebington Junior School

Best Presentation: Stanton Road Junior School

Runners Up: Brackenwood Juniors, Poulton Lancelyn Primary, St. Andrew's Primary and Woodchurch Road Primary.

The team from Thornton Hough will now have their model turned into a cool cartoon character by staff at Outhouse Design, who are based in Irby here on the Wirral.

Our thanks extend to our judges for supporting this fantastic event:

Vicki Ellis (Outhouse Design), Mike Ellis (Outhouse Design), Linda Stafford (Community Champion-Tesco), Di Fitch (Enterprise Hub Co-ordinator) and John Potts (NW Enterprise Advisor).

Tony Boustead (Community Learning Manager)
