Primary School Maths Video Conference

On Wednesday 17th March, 20 Year 6 pupils from 5 local primary schools came into WGSB to take part in a Maths Video Conference event entitled 'Calculator Fun'.

The gifted & talented mathematicians, helped by Year 7 boys, spent the morning undertaking a range of activities with children from primary schools in Oldham and Hampshire. Through the video link the children were set tasks which included:

• Thinking about efficient ways to do calculations and record what pupils are doing
• Investigating number patterns
• Learning how to work with big numbers
• Playing mathematical games

Under the guidance of Mr Griffiths and Mrs Turner, and armed with calculators, pens and paper, the children spent an enjoyable morning working in teams tackling mathematical problems and sharing their answers with children from other schools.
