School News & FeaturesYear 9 Boys Step Back in Time!Posted on: 17.03.2010 The Year 9 History students spent a day recently at the Blists Hill Victorian Town at the Ironbridge Gorge, Shropshire. This open-air museum allows visitors to experience Victorian life in the late 1800's. Throughout the visit, Victorian life was re-enacted by 'townsfolk' wearing the attire of the day, who went about their daily lives in the shops and workplaces of the community. Specific skills and crafts were demonstrated and other attractions included a nineteenth century steam-operated pithead, a Victorian chemist, a squatters cottage, a schoolhouse and a bank, where the boys were able to obtain Blists Hills own Victorian legal tender to spend in the towns shops.
