Comenius Exchange Students Visit Wirral

Comenius Exchange Students Visit Wirral

Posted on: 25.05.2010

On 8th April 2010 over 30 foreign language students arrived to the Wirral for the first leg of our Comenius exchange from Norway, the Netherlands and Spain. Most of the exchange students arrived at Liverpool Airport on time with the exception of a few Spanish students and all of the host families collected them from school.

On Friday 9th April we arrived early at school in order to give each other a presentation about each other’s school and country. At 9:30am we arrived at Wallasey Town Hall and were given a tour of the building by the Mayor who officially welcomed the exchange students to the Wirral. From there we went on the Anfield Stadium tour which was a big hit – especially with the Norwegian students. Finally we went to the Albert Dock and headed home.

On Saturday 10th April we walked down to Port Sunlight village and got the train to Chester. We even met a Roman gladiator! After an ice cream by the band stand we returned home, praising the beautiful weather.

Sunday 11th April was a day for shopping and football as we went to Cheshire Oaks and had an inter-European football match. Most of the Dutch girls were better than the Wirral boys it has to be said!

School beckoned on Monday and our exchange visitors gave a presentation to year 7 in assembly. They also had a tour of the school and worked in the IT rooms on the Comenius project.

When the Dutch people came to England it was so fun. We went round all the local spots and we went with them to show them. We went to places like Liverpool Cathedral and Wallasey Town Hall. They stayed in our houses and my guests said that they enjoyed it lots. I can’t wait to go over to The Netherlands to see them again.

Thank you ever so much for a brilliant stay. All the students loved it and of course they wanted to stay behind!
