Snowdon Climb
2008

On 14th July, representatives from the Peer Support Group, Head Boy teams (2007/8 and 2008/9), and School Council took part in a climb to the top of Mount Snowdon. Mr Hazeldine, Dr Bromley, Mrs Walker and Mr Stubbs accompanied the party. We set off early to avoid the typical queue of climbers at this time of year. We arrived at Pen-y-pass by 9.30 am and set off along the Pyg Track. The weather was disappointing but ‘typical’ Welsh mountain weather. A low cloud base ensured that we all got wet slowly due to fine rain. We gained occasional glimpses of the lakes as we climbed to the summit. Once at the top we tried to visualise a view as best we could, peering into the white mist; at least from the energy that we had put in we felt we deserved to be high up. Our descent was along the Snowdon Ranger and into the valley below. The path down was in some ways harder than the path up: a mixture of grass, mud and scree with the occasional boulder-strewn gulley thrown in for good measure. We eventually dropped below the cloud base and had lovely views of the valley towards Bedgellert. With plans to repeat the activity next year we can but hope for better weather. This page contains photographs of the party on the climb.
