Traditional, ‘British’ Values of democracy, tolerance, mutual respect, personal and social responsibility, rule of law and individual liberty, lie at the heart of our school and have done since the school opened in 1931.

Having had a former British Prime Minister (Harold Wilson) attend the school has given us a unique and special opportunity to reinforce these values and particularly relating the social (peer) responsibility, duty of care for others, duty of service to our country and engagement in the democratic process.

We live our values through: assemblies, our House System, annual elections, a culture of peer support, a culture of active participation , student-led charity fund-raising, a strong emphasis on competitive sport, high levels of participation in music, through our RE curriculum, through our curriculum which is broad and balanced, through overseas links and through a number of ‘traditional’ events each year.
